Confusion and delays marked the scheduled court appearance of popular UK-based blogger Maureen Badejo on Monday, February 9.
A legal team of eleven gathered at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, only to find the proceedings halted because police authorities had not brought the defendant to the premises.
The search for the blogger led her team of lawyers across Lagos, eventually locating her at the Nigeria Police Cybercrime Unit in Yaba after she had been moved from the SCID in Panti, reports Persecondnews.
Police defended the non-appearance by citing additional “interested parties” and fresh petitions tied to the case.
As her legal team maintains a constant presence at the station to oversee her statements, international momentum for Maureen Badejo continues to build.
Supporters in the UK, US, and Canada are already mobilizing funds for her legal fees.
Barrister George Ogunjimi said despite not eating since Friday, Badejo remains in good spirits, even requesting specific refreshments when the team arrived.
Nevertheless, her failure to appear in court has raised serious questions about her continued detention, leaving supporters on edge as they wait for the next development
