Abuja City Half Marathon Set to Attract Elite Talent From Kenya, Uganda, Others

The Abuja City Half Marathon is set to host athletes from 13 countries, featuring top runners from Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Ethiopia.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, November 6, is expected to showcase exceptional athletic talent and solidify Abuja’s standing as a premier sporting destination.

Persecondnews reports that the organizers, Nilayo Sports Management, announced an impressive prize structure at a press conference at Transcorp Hilton Abuja on Friday.

The top eight overall finishers will earn substantial cash rewards.

The winners will take home $8,000, $6,000, $5,000, $4,000, $3,000, $2,000, $1,000, and $500, respectively.

Nigerian athletes will also receive significant prizes, with the top six finishers earning ₦2 million, ₦1.5 million, ₦1 million, ₦500,000, ₦200,000, and ₦100,000.

The event is part of a broader effort to promote Abuja as a hub for sports and tourism.

The marathon will feature elite runners, including those ranked among the world’s top 300, and will utilize chip timing, photo-finish technology, and manual backups to ensure accurate results.
