Adamawa 2027: Haske Emerges APM Governorship Candidate After Exiting APC

The political contest ahead of the 2027 Adamawa governorship election has taken a new turn with businessman and politician Abdulrahman Haske moving from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.

Haske made the declaration on Saturday, in Yola, where he was formally unveiled as the APM governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 Adamawa governorship election.

The declaration was attended by APM leaders, traditional and community leaders, youth and women groups, as well as supporters from the 21 Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.

Describing the move as “a convergence of principle and purpose,” Haske said he would focus on accountable leadership, economic empowerment, youth inclusion and sustainable development.

“Today is not merely about joining a political party; it is about strengthening a movement dedicated to the future of Adamawa State,” he said.

According to him, his administration, if elected, would prioritise agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, security and transparent governance.

He also expressed appreciation to the national leadership of the APM for giving him the party’s ticket, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service.

Reacting to the defection, the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, described Haske’s political philosophy as consistent with the party’s ideals and expressed confidence in his capacity to provide alternative leadership for Adamawa.

“After extensive consultations, we are convinced that Abdulrahman Haske embodies the values and principles for which the Allied Peoples Movement stands,” Dantalle said.

Dantalle added that Haske’s commitment to youth empowerment, inclusive development and stronger communities informed the party’s decision to support his candidacy.

On his part, the Adamawa State Chairman of the APM, Badejo Bello, also welcomed Haske into the party, describing him as a “bridge builder” with an understanding of the state’s challenges and opportunities.

“The party is confident that Haske’s candidacy would help it provide “genuine transformation, renewed hope and sustainable progress” for Adamawa,” he stated.

The event ended with a call for unity among APM members and supporters as the party begins mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Persecondnews recalls that Haske had earlier been described as a frontline governorship aspirant in the APC before plans to move his political structure to the APM gathered momentum ahead of the 2027 election.

A close political associate of Haske, Alhaji Hussaini Ahmadu Har, had earlier confirmed, the move of his defection was at an advanced stage, with several of his loyalists already leaving the APC for the APM.
