BREAKING: NPC Chairman Aminu Yusuf Dies Eight Months After Assuming Office

The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Aminu Yusuf, has died barely eight months after assuming office.

Yusuf, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu and sworn in as NPC Chairman in December 2025, reportedly died on Friday.

Persecondnews gathered that sources close to the Presidency and the family confirmed his death, although the cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

His death comes just weeks after he launched a nationwide digital birth and death registration initiative as part of efforts to reform Nigeria’s civil registration and vital statistics system.

The NPC and his family had yet to issue an official statement on his death or announce burial arrangements as of the time of filing this report.
