Civil Society Welcomes Enitan as New Head of Civil Service, Hails Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s choice of Dr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has drawn strong backing from the Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG).

The organization’s President, Comrade Dominic Ogakwu, commended the move on Thursday, praising Enitan as a seasoned professional whose long-standing career background fits the demands of the post and signals a push toward greater public service efficiency.

“Dr. Enitan has demonstrated credibility, integrity, professionalism and competence throughout his career in public service. His understanding of the system, combined with his commitment to institutional development and nation-building, makes him a perfect fit for this important national assignment,” Ogakwu said.

Persecondnews had earlier reported that President Tinubu had appointed Enitan as the incoming Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026.

According to the Presidency, Enitan brings extensive institutional experience and a deep understanding of the Federal Civil Service to the role.

CSGGG said the appointment comes at a critical time when Nigeria needs a Civil Service that is more efficient, accountable, innovative and result-oriented, particularly in translating government policies into tangible benefits for citizens.

The coalition expressed confidence that Enitan would use his experience to consolidate ongoing reforms while promoting merit, discipline, professionalism, digital transformation and improved service delivery across the Federal Civil Service.

It also commended Tinubu for choosing a career public servant for the position, saying the decision could help deepen institutional reforms and strengthen the capacity of the nation’s bureaucracy.

“His extensive experience within the Federal Civil Service has adequately prepared him to provide the leadership required to consolidate ongoing reforms and reposition the Service for greater efficiency and productivity,” Ogakwu said.

The group congratulated Enitan on his appointment and urged him to use his new position to build a modern, responsive and productive Civil Service capable of supporting Nigeria’s development.

It also pledged the continued support of organised civil society for efforts aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, professionalism and effective public service delivery.
