Deep sorrow has gripped Nollywood following the death of actress Tope Osoba, who passed away after a prolonged battle with breast cancer.

PerSecondNews recalls that Osoba had previously been open about her diagnosis, explaining that she first discovered a lump during a routine self-examination—a symptom she initially thought was harmless before medical tests confirmed cancer.

The diagnosis marked the beginning of a long and difficult fight as the actress underwent treatment while coping with the emotional, physical and financial toll of the illness.

Despite the challenges, she remained optimistic and determined to beat the disease.

As her medical bills continued to rise, Osoba appealed for financial assistance to continue her treatment.

Her plight touched many Nigerians, with colleagues, fans and well-wishers responding to her call for help.

Actress Foluke Daramola led the campaign to raise funds for Osoba’s treatment, mobilising support from within and outside the entertainment industry.

The initiative attracted donations that helped ease the financial burden of her medical care.

In several public appearances and interviews, Osoba expressed appreciation to everyone who stood by her during the trying period.

She also spoke  about the importance of early detection, urging women to carry out regular breast self-examinations.

Her passing has deeply saddened the Nigerian film industry, prompting an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, filmmakers, and fans.

They remember her not only for her screen talent, but also for the courage and resilience she showed throughout her fight against breast cancer.
