Concern is mounting within Nigeria’s entertainment industry over the continued disappearance of popular comedian and actor Broda Shaggi from the public space, months after reports emerged that he was allegedly shot during a movie shoot in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
The prolonged silence of one of Nigeria’s biggest digital content creators has triggered fresh anxiety among colleagues and fans alike, many of whom say they have neither seen nor heard from him since the incident.
PerSecondNews reports that the concerns came to the fore at the lavish wedding ceremony of social media sensations Peller and Jarvis held in Lagos on Saturday, where virtually every major skit maker and content creator was in attendance except Broda Shaggi.
His absence quickly became a talking point as several of his colleagues were heard expressing sadness that one of the industry’s most influential comic acts was missing from yet another major entertainment gathering.
Many of them admitted that the comedy scene has not been the same without the energetic performer, whose witty characters, street-inspired humour and consistency have earned him millions of followers across different social media platforms.
According to findings by Per Second News, Broda Shaggi has deliberately kept a low profile in recent months, avoiding public appearances and remaining quiet about his current situation.
Further checks by our correspondent also showed that activity on his verified Instagram page has reduced significantly.
His last post was shared on July 11, while the one before it was made in June, a sharp contrast to his previously active online presence.
Sources close to the entertainer further disclosed that he has not personally handled his Instagram account for some time, adding that those close to him have continued to shield him from unnecessary public attention.
Although neither the comedian nor his management has officially addressed his prolonged absence, the uncertainty surrounding his whereabouts has continued to fuel concern across the entertainment industry.
In what appeared to be the clearest public confirmation that Broda Shaggi has indeed stepped away from the spotlight, fellow comedian and skit maker Cute Abiola admitted that his colleague has been noticeably absent.
Without going into details, Cute Abiola said the industry genuinely misses Broda Shaggi, stressing that many of his colleagues are eager to see him return to what he loves doing and continue entertaining millions of Nigerians.
Broda Shaggi, whose rise from online comedy skits to mainstream acting has made him one of the country’s most recognisable entertainment personalities, has built a successful career spanning comedy, film, music and brand endorsements.
His absence has therefore left a noticeable gap in Nigeria’s thriving digital entertainment space.
As speculation continues to grow, colleagues and fans have remained united in expressing hope that the entertainer is safe, recovering well and will soon return to the screens where his unique brand of humour has made him a household name.
