Annie Retains Idibia Surname, Covers Name Tattoo With Butterfly

Two weeks after Per Second News revealed that Annie Macaulay was still holding onto the Idibia surname a year past her split from music icon Innocent "2Baba" Idibia the actress has made a symbolic move that fans think finally closes the book on their marriage.

The actress has covered up the “Idibia” tattoo on the left side of her chest with a large butterfly design, a move widely interpreted as embracing a fresh start following the collapse of her marriage to the Afrobeats legend.

Annie, who had proudly worn the tattoo just above her left breast for years during their marriage, personally revealed the transformation by sharing photos of the new artwork on her social media platforms, immediately sparking reactions from fans and followers.

The butterfly tattoo now completely conceals the once-visible “Idibia” inscription, replacing it with an image widely associated with healing, freedom, rebirth and personal transformation.

Her latest move comes barely two weeks after Per Second News highlighted public reactions over her continued use of the Idibia surname despite the couple’s separation and 2Baba’s highly publicised new relationship.

Although Annie has yet to publicly explain the significance of the tattoo makeover, many social media users believe it is her way of drawing the curtain on her highly publicised marriage and embracing a new phase of her life.

The actress has maintained a relatively low profile in recent months, choosing to focus on herself while staying away from public comments about the end of the marriage that once dominated entertainment headlines.

Fans flooded the comment section of her post with messages of encouragement, describing the butterfly as a powerful symbol of resilience, healing and hope, while commending her for taking what many considered a bold step towards moving on.

Others, however, pointed out that Annie has continued to retain the Idibia surname across her social media handles, despite the visible change to the tattoo that once bore the famous family name.

Though she has yet to remove the Idibia surname from her online identity, Annie appears to be gradually distancing herself from that chapter of her life.

By covering up the tattoo she once proudly wore in honour of 2Baba with a butterfly, she seems to be sending a subtle but powerful message that she is finally ready to let go of the past.

While she has not publicly addressed the symbolism behind the tattoo transformation, its timing has fuelled speculation that she is intentionally turning the page on one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity marriages.

To many of her supporters, the butterfly represents healing, growth, resilience and the freedom to start afresh after a painful experience.
