New York’s Christie’s auction house announced a major charity sale on Tuesday featuring prime World Cup memorabilia.
The lineup includes the match ball from the July 19 final and the outfits Shakira wore during her star-studded halftime performance.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit a global initiative dedicated to children’s education.
The week-long online auction is scheduled to begin on July 22. Proceeds from the sale will go to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative working to generate $100 million for children worldwide during the World Cup.
High on the list of attractions are pieces connected to Shakira.
The Colombian pop star’s official tournament anthem “Dai Dai” comes with its own memorabilia – the yellow crop top and trousers she wore while filming the music video for the track.
Furthermore, the outfit destined for Shakira’s role in the pioneering World Cup final halftime performance—an 11-minute musical spectacle set to feature Madonna, Justin Bieber, and BTS—will be offered to collectors as well.
Football fans can bid on several used match balls, among them the one played with in the July 19 title decider at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and the ball from the opening game staged in Mexico last month.
Adding star power to the proceedings are two notable jerseys – a 2022 Argentina shirt autographed by Lionel Messi and a United States men’s team jersey bearing signatures from the national squad.
