Disputed DG Adeyemi Counts on Court to Clear Name

Facing allegations of fraud and impersonation, the disputed pioneer Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, has denied being a criminal or con artist, adding that he is ready to clear his name in court.

Adeyemi spoke in an interview on Channels TV, monitored by Persecondnews on Thursday evening, a day after the Presidency described him as an impostor and insisted the PFIPC was a fictitious agency allegedly created with forged documents.

Adeyemi repeatedly declined to answer detailed questions about the allegations, insisting the issues were already before a court of competent jurisdiction and should be determined through the judicial process.

“Since the matter is in court, let the court of competent jurisdiction decide because I’m ready to clear my name,” he said.

Pressed on claims that he fraudulently operated a government agency, secured office space in the Federal Secretariat and employed about 300 staff, Adeyemi declined to provide explanations, citing the ongoing court case.

“I don’t want to talk much about it. The matter is in court, and I’m restricted from speaking on it”.

Adeyemi also rejected suggestions that he was evading the law, saying he honoured a police invitation after investigators visited his office and had cooperated with authorities throughout the investigation.

“I was invited last year by the police, which I answered. They came to my office to invite me, and I followed them as a law-abiding citizen,” he said.

He further dismissed claims that he fabricated the PFIPC, insisting no one could have run a non-existent government agency openly for almost three years.

“No Nigerian can dare do that. Someone cannot keep moving from one place to another for almost three years. Nigeria is not a banana country,” he said.

Persecondnews recalls that the Presidency had on Wednesday, accused Adeyemi of posing as Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), using allegedly forged appointment documents.
