Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has dismissed as false and malicious viral claims that she would stop playing for Nigeria because football officials allegedly demanded favours from her.

The Saudi-based defender said the statements circulating online did not originate from her, revealing that conmen had created a fake Facebook account in her name to spread misinformation and defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.

Plumptre warned fans and the general public to disregard the posts, stressing that she has never made such allegations against Nigerian football authorities and remains fully committed to representing Nigeria.

She also disclosed that the fraudsters have been using the fake account to solicit money from innocent Nigerians by falsely posing as her.
“The Facebook account is fake. I did not make those statements, and I have never asked anyone for money,” Plumptre said, urging supporters to ignore the page and report it.

The Super Falcons star said she has involved law enforcement authorities, who are working to track down those behind the impersonation, while efforts are also underway to have the fraudulent Facebook account removed.

She appealed to Nigerians to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to online scammers exploiting her identity.
The clarification follows the circulation of fabricated social media posts falsely claiming Plumptre had vowed never to play for Nigeria again because officials were allegedly demanding inappropriate favours from her.

Plumptre categorically denied making any such statement, describing it as a deliberate falsehood orchestrated by fraudsters seeking to deceive the public and tarnish her reputation.
