Millions of users across the world reported difficulties accessing Facebook, Instagram and Threads on Friday, June 12, as Meta’s social media platforms experienced a widespread outage.

According to outage-tracking websites, thousands of users complained that they were unable to refresh feeds, load content, send messages or access certain features on the apps. Many frustrated users turned to rival social media platforms to report the disruption.

The outage affected Facebook, Instagram and Threads, all of which are owned by Meta, sparking concerns among users who rely on the platforms for communication, business and content sharing.

The incident is the latest in a series of service disruptions to hit Meta’s family of apps in recent years. In March 2026, a major outage left users in several countries unable to access their accounts or load feeds for hours.

As of the time of filing this report, Meta had not provided a detailed explanation for Friday’s outage or disclosed what may have caused the disruption.
