Disturbed by the rampant exploitation of his brand, Fuji music star Wasiu Alabi (Pasuma) is cracking down on copyright infringers.

The icon has threatened legal action against individuals and corporate entities using his music, image, and creative works without permission.

In a cease-and-desist notice dated June 5, 2026, and made available to newsmen on Saturday, the veteran singer declared that his rights over his sound recordings, musical compositions, image, name, likeness, and other creative works had been repeatedly infringed upon by various entities operating across digital platforms.

Pasuma stated that several individuals and organisations had allegedly uploaded, hosted, distributed, streamed, and commercially exploited his intellectual property on various digital service providers and internet platforms without obtaining his express written authorization or consent.

According to the Fuji star, the unauthorized use of his works on streaming platforms, video-on-demand services, app stores, blogs, lyrics websites, gaming platforms, virtual aggregation sites, and other digital channels amounts to a violation of the provisions of the Nigerian Copyright Act 2022.

“It has come to my attention that the below-listed entities are engaging in activities that constitute exploitation of my intellectual property rights, including my image rights, likeness, sound recordings, musical works, and visual recordings,” the notice read.

Pasuma demanded the immediate cessation of all unauthorized use and exploitation of his intellectual property.

He also directed the affected parties to remove all content, sound recordings, compositions, and materials connected to him from their platforms where no valid authorization exists.

The singer further demanded that all distribution, sale, promotion, and commercial activities involving his intellectual property be permanently halted.

In addition, he requested that those involved provide a full statement of accounts detailing revenues generated from the exploitation of his works since the commencement of such activities.

He also challenged any party claiming to possess authorization to submit copies of written agreements or licenses granted by him or his legal representatives within the stipulated period.

The notice warned that failure to comply with the demands within 14 days of publication, with a deadline fixed for June 19, 2026, would leave him with no option but to seek redress through the courts.

Pasuma said any legal action initiated could include requests for injunctive relief, monetary damages, criminal liabilities against corporate entities and their directors, as well as any other remedies available under Nigerian law.

The notice was signed by Pasuma and copied to several individuals and companies allegedly connected to the disputed exploitation of his works, including High Kay Dancent Ltd, Sarolaj Music & Films International, Role Model Entertainment Ltd, NextXtar, Stability Production, UMIam, Moh Saheed, OgaNla TV, Monya Shau Films & Records, and G3 Entertainment Limited.
