Nollywood actor Kunle Remi is worried about unending bickering, toxicity amd negativity he is daily exposed to on social media, almost pushing him to leave the platform completely.
He expressed fears over what he described as emotional exhaustion he feels whenever he logs onto Instagram, admitting that the negativity, disrespect, and heartbreaking news that dominate the platform are beginning to weigh heavily on him mentally.
In a reflective post shared on his Instagram page, the actor confessed that opening the app daily has become emotionally draining because of the disturbing content that constantly appears on his timeline.
According to him, the endless stream of sadness, online toxicity, insults, and troubling reports has gradually taken away the excitement that once came with being active on social media.
“Every time I open Instagram, it’s one heartbreaking news after the other,” he wrote.
Kunle Remi further lamented the level of hostility and negativity that now characterise many online interactions, describing the atmosphere as deeply unhealthy.
“The disrespect, toxicity and negativity I see every day is alarming,” he added.
The actor admitted that the emotional weight of constantly consuming such content has pushed him to the point of wanting to completely shut down or log out from the platform.
“It’s almost forcing me to shut down or log out completely,” he stated.
However, despite his frustrations, the actor explained that walking away from Instagram is not exactly easy because of the responsibilities attached to his career and public image.
According to him, he continues to return to the platform because he is not just an individual online but also a brand with commitments, people to engage, stories to share, and positivity to spread in what he described as an already draining society.
He noted that beyond work obligations, he also enjoys bringing humour, lighthearted moments, and love to people who may be struggling emotionally, which keeps drawing him back despite the emotional fatigue.
