The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly cleared Nigeria’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and former NNPCL NUIMS chief, Bala Wunti, as aspirants for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship race.
However, Senator Shehu Buba Umar was reportedly not cleared by the party.
Credible sources cited security concerns as one of the reasons behind the senator’s exclusion from the clearance process.
Sources familiar with the party’s internal calculations said Bauchi remains a strategically important state for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, with the party determined to present a strong and competitive showing.
The development is expected to reshape political calculations ahead of the 2027 governorship battle in Bauchi, with Tuggar and Wunti now emerging as major contenders within the ruling party.
Party insiders say consultations and alignments have intensified following the screening outcome, as supporters of the affected aspirants react to the unfolding situation.
More details later.
