Former Big Brother Naija star Queen Mercy Atang might be eyeing a world record after her “bread-inspired” AMVCA outfit caught the attention of Guinness World Records.
The unique look, debuted at the 12th edition of the awards, has since gone viral, sparking a surprise nod from the global authority.
The reality star, who became one of the most talked-about personalities at the glamorous award ceremony in Lagos, had stepped onto the red carpet in an unconventional costume designed to resemble loaves of bread.
The dramatic appearance immediately triggered widespread conversations across social media platforms, with fans, fashion lovers and critics debating the creativity and symbolism behind the outfit.
Days after the event, the conversation took an unexpected international turn when Guinness World Records appeared to acknowledge the viral fashion statement in the comment section of a video shared by Queen on her Instagram page on Sunday.
The organization’s reaction instantly sent fans into a frenzy and fuelled speculation about a possible world record attempt.
Responding to the now-viral costume, Guinness World Records wrote, “Well, we do have a record for the largest cake dress … hmmm.”
The subtle but intriguing remark quickly drew thousands of reactions from fans who interpreted it as a sign that Queen’s outfit could potentially inspire a new category or challenge in the global record space.
Clearly excited by the attention, Queen swiftly replied to the comment, writing, “Hello @guinnessworldrecords, I see you in the comment section.”
Her response further intensified conversations online, with many social media users urging her to formally pursue a record-breaking attempt.
The exchange between the reality star and the global record body has since become one of the biggest talking points linked to this year’s AMVCA, especially as fashion moments from the event continue to dominate entertainment blogs and celebrity discussions days after the ceremony ended.
According to information published by Guinness World Records, the current record for the world’s largest wearable cake dress stands at an impressive 131.15 kilograms, equivalent to 289 pounds and 13 ounces.
The record remains one of the more unusual fashion-themed achievements recognized globally.
The feat was achieved by Natasha Coline Kim Fah Lee Fokas of SweetyCakes GmbH in Bern, Switzerland, on January 15, 2023.
The cake dress reportedly combined culinary craftsmanship with wearable fashion design, making it eligible for recognition by Guinness World Records.
Although Queen’s AMVCA outfit was not made from cake, many people believe the striking similarity in concept may have prompted the GWR’s playful reaction online.
Some fans have also suggested that the reality star could explore creating a larger or more elaborate edible-themed wearable costume in future.
Fashion enthusiasts and entertainment followers have continued to share mixed reactions to the bread-inspired look.
While some applauded the creativity and courage behind the outfit, others questioned the practicality and aesthetic appeal of the design.
