Family confirms Alex Ekubo died of kidney cancer, reveals actor’s last moments

The family of beloved Nollywood star Alexx Ekubo has officially confirmed his transition, sharing the somber news with his fans and colleagues worldwide.

In a poignant tribute, his loved ones described his final days as a “courageous battle” against advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

 Despite the challenges of his diagnosis, the actor reportedly faced his illness with the same strength and grace that defined his public life.

According to the statement, Alexx Ekubo, whose full name is Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke, remained strong and hopeful throughout his health struggles despite the severity of his condition.

The family described him as a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend whose presence touched countless lives.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Son, Brother, and Friend, Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke,” the family stated while confirming the tragic development.

The statement further revealed that the actor died after what the family described as a “brief but courageous battle” with advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

They disclosed that he passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from the illness.

The family also praised the late actor’s courage and faith during his final days, saying he endured the painful period with remarkable strength and unwavering belief that he would eventually overcome the illness and share his testimony publicly.

“Throughout this difficult journey, he bore his pain with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring hope, believing that one day his testimony would be shared with the world,” the statement read.

Following the announcement, fans, colleagues, and well-wishers flooded social media with emotional tributes, mourning the loss of one of Nollywood’s popular actors.

Many described him as talented, humble, and inspiring both on and off the screen.

The family appealed for privacy during this difficult period while asking friends, supporters, and the general public to remember the late actor in their prayers as they grieve the painful loss.

“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, and for all who mourn this immense loss,” the family stated.

They appreciated everyone who supported the family throughout the actor’s illness and assured the public that details concerning funeral arrangements and other family matters would be announced later.
