Lawyer and political analyst, Liborous Oshoma, has said the Federal High Court ruling on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership dispute has exposed the party’s structural weaknesses.

In an interview on Wednesday on Channels TV programme, Politics Today monitored by Persecondnews, he said  the judgment has created a leadership and operational vacuum that could affect its political direction.

Oshoma also said the legal gaps make proper consolidation difficult for the party.

“The reality is that even where you assume there is recognition, you still cannot proceed effectively with congresses or conventions
without full compliance with the party constitution and electoral requirements,” he said.

Despite the partial recognition of the NWC, the party remains hamstrung by mandatory legal obligations, such as notifying INEC and finalizing a valid membership register.

According to Oshoma, the crisis was deepened by the initial sidelining of some state officials.

He noted that prioritizing inclusion early on could have resolved the conflict and avoided the current litigation.

“If those stakeholders had been properly included, the party might have resolved these issues through congresses and a national convention before everything became tied up in court,” he said.

He warned that legal disputes and electoral deadlines have now created a “time and legitimacy trap,” where remaining tenure and statutory timelines are too tight to meet requirements.

He urged the party to urgently reconcile factions and comply strictly with its constitution to avoid further electoral setbacks.
