The race for Ogun 2027 gained significant momentum as Senator Iyabo Obasanjo briefed President Bola Tinubu on her governorship aspirations at his Lagos Ikoyi home.
Sources indicate the meeting was a deep dive into her vision for the state, focused on delivering transformative governance and sustainable development.
Notably, Obasanjo leaned into the personal history between the two leaders.
She described her bond with Tinubu as one forged through years of political collaboration, crediting their mutual respect as a guiding force behind her decision to seek the state’s highest office.
She said: “On Monday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.”
During the meeting, the former commissioner for health in Ogun reaffirmed her loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to actively mobilise support for President Tinubu ahead of the next general election.
Persecondnews reports that political analysts view the encounter as a strategic maneuver within a broader wave of realignments, setting the stage for upcoming electoral battles in both Ogun State and the national political arena.
