President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday congratulated former Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba on his 70th birthday, describing him as a distinguished patriot and one of Nigeria’s finest legal minds.

In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Ndoma-Egba for his remarkable contributions to national development through the legal profession and the legislature.

Ndoma-Egba represented Cross River Central Senatorial District in the Senate for three consecutive terms between 2003 and 2015 and served as Senate Leader during the 7th National Assembly.

President Tinubu noted that the seasoned lawmaker played pivotal roles during critical moments in Nigeria’s democratic journey, particularly at times when the country faced leadership tensions that required steady legislative intervention.

“I rejoice with family, friends and associates of one of the finest legal luminaries and statesmen in the country on this important milestone of turning 70,” the President said.

Tinubu also highlighted Ndoma-Egba’s rare distinction in Nigeria’s legal history, noting that he remains the first and only lawyer to earn the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria while serving as a senator.

According to the President, Ndoma-Egba has remained a stabilising force in public service and politics, adding that his contributions to governance and national dialogue have left an enduring imprint on the country.

“I congratulate Ndoma-Egba on his 70th birthday and wish him more years and good health as he continues to serve Nigeria and humanity,” Tinubu said.
