President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and spiritual reflection as Christians and Muslims commence Lent and Ramadan simultaneously in what he described as a rare and powerful reminder of the nation’s shared faith and destiny.

In a State House statement issued on February 18, 2026, the President extended warm greetings to both Christian and Muslim faithful, noting that the uncommon overlap of the two sacred observances underscores the deep spiritual bonds that unite Nigerians across religious lines.

Tinubu explained that Lent, observed by Christians through fasting, abstinence, and penitence, mirrors the example of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and devotion before His crucifixion. He also highlighted Ramadan as a sacred pillar of Islam marked by fasting, submission to God, charity, reflection, and communal love.

Describing the dual observance as a moment of national significance, the President called on citizens to strengthen good neighbourliness, promote stability, and offer prayers for Nigeria’s security and progress.

He urged Nigerians to live by the moral teachings of their faiths and remain honourable in service to God and humanity, praying that the blessings and lessons of the sacred seasons would endure in the lives of the people and the nation at large.
