Tinubu receives US AFRICOM Commander, envoy at State House

President Bola Tinubu hosted a high-level security summit on Sunday, receiving a delegation from the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) at the State House in Abuja.

The visiting group was led by AFRICOM Commander, General Dagvin Anderson.

The meeting, which underscores strengthening military ties, was confirmed via X (formerly Twitter) by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun.

The President was joined by Nigeria’s top defence and security brass to facilitate the talks including the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa; the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt.-Gen. Emmanuel Uandiandeye.

Others are the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Tosin Ajayi.

Those present on the U.S. side include the Charge d’Affaires, Mr. Keith Heffern; the Commander of AFRICOM, General Dagvin Anderson; the Command Sergeant Major, Garric M. Banfield, who is the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of AFRICOM; and the Senior Foreign Policy Adviser, AFRICOM, Ambassador Peter Vrooman.
