Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has bid farewell to South African club, Chippa United, after a four-year stint. The 29-year-old shot-stopper had requested to leave the club, despite signing a three-year contract extension in 2024.

Nwabali’s departure comes after he played over 70 games for Chippa United, becoming a key figure in the team and eventually taking on the captain’s role in 2024.

His impressive performances earned him a spot as the Eagles’ number one goalkeeper at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

“We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club,” Chippa United said in a statement.

“His contribution to the club will always be appreciated”.

The club has agreed to grant Nwabali’s release, wishing him success in the next chapter of his career.

However, it remains unclear whether Nwabali has joined another club or will be a free agent.

Reports suggest that Nwabali has been linked with moves to other clubs in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) and also in Europe and Saudi Arabia.

The goalkeeper himself has remained tight-lipped about his next move.

Nwabali joined Chippa United from Katsina United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in 2022.

His departure marks a significant change for the club, which will need to find a new goalkeeper to fill the gap.

Speculation is reaching a fever pitch over the Super Eagles shot-stopper’s next move, with fans and pundits alike eagerly tracking his every step.

Regardless of where he lands, Nwabali’s rare blend of veteran experience and raw talent ensures he will be one of the most coveted assets in the upcoming transfer window.
