Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman is poised to join Atlético Madrid in a €40m transfer from Atalanta.

The deal, reported by Fabrizio Romano, includes a €35m fixed fee and €5m in add-ons.

Lookman has agreed to a long-term contract with the Spanish club, pending a medical examination.

Persecondnews recalls that he recently scored four goals for Nigeria at the AFCON 2025 tournament, helping the team secure a bronze medal.

The 28-year-old forward has been in top form, scoring 55 goals for Atalanta since joining in 2022.

His impressive performances earned him a spot in the Europa League final, where he scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen, securing Atalanta’s first European trophy.

Lookman’s move to Atlético Madrid marks a significant career milestone, joining a top-tier Champions League club.

His versatility and goal-scoring ability will be a valuable addition to Diego Simeone’s squad.

Persecondnews also recalls that Lookman’s career journey began at Charlton Athletic, where he made his debut in 2015.

He later moved to Everton, scoring on his Premier League debut, but struggled to impose himself.

A successful loan spell with RB Leipzig followed, leading to a permanent move in 2019.

Lookman then spent time on loan with Fulham and Leicester City before joining Atalanta, where he transformed his fortunes.

At Atalanta, Lookman became a key player, scoring crucial goals and helping the team win their first European trophy.

His success has now attracted top clubs, with Atlético Madrid emerging as the winners.
