In a groundbreaking move, Washington Spirit forward Trinity Rodman has signed a three-year contract extension, making her the world’s highest-paid female footballer.
The 23-year-old, daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, will earn $2 million per year, including bonuses, keeping her with the Spirit until 2028.
Rodman’s impressive career, which includes winning the NWSL Championship in her debut season and earning NWSL Rookie of the Year honors, has made her a sought-after player.
The Spirit had to navigate the new “High Impact Player” rule, introduced by the NWSL in December 2025, to secure Rodman’s services.
“Trinity is a generational player, but more importantly, she represents the future of this club and the future of women’s soccer,” said Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang.
“This agreement reflects our belief that elite talent deserves elite commitment”.
Rodman’s new contract surpasses the previous record held by Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati, a three-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Rodman expressed her excitement, calling the deal “amazing” and a “monumental and game-changing moment”.
With 47 caps and 11 goals for the United States, including three goals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Rodman is an integral part of the national team.
Her father, Dennis Rodman, won five NBA Championships with the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls.
