385

The Catholic community in Delta State is in mourning following the sudden death of Rev. Steve Chukwuma, who collapsed while delivering his New Year’s Day homily.

The 63-year-old Parish Priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Agbor, was in the middle of his sermon on Wednesday when the incident occurred, leaving worshippers in shock.

A multi-talented cleric, Rev. Chukwuma was not only a priest of 35 years but also a lawyer and an accomplished writer.

Throughout his ministry, which spanned several parishes including St. Brigid’s in Asaba and All Saints in Onicha-Ugbo, he was celebrated for his focus on compassion and human dignity.

His leadership extended to roles as Rector of St. Felix Minor Seminary and Dean at the Spiritual Year campus in Ekpoma.
