Sen. Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, who previously represented the Delta North Senatorial District, has passed away.

While the circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been disclosed, the news has drawn an outpouring of tributes, led by Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori expressed profound grief, characterizing the senator’s passing as a monumental loss to Delta State, the Anioma people, and the nation.

The governor lauded Nwaoboshi as a courageous advocate for the Anioma cause and a dedicated leader whose legacy in nation-building remains secure.

He specifically highlighted Nwaoboshi’s influential tenure as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, noting that his passionate advocacy for the region’s development distinguished him as a committed statesman.

Oborevwori said Nwaoboshi’s political journey and rise to prominence were rooted in a rich political pedigree, selfless service and unwavering commitment to democratic ideals, which also saw him serve meritoriously as a two-time Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.

According to the governor, the late lawmaker devoted his life to the service of his people, his party and the nation, leaving behind a legacy of courage, loyalty and dedication to public service.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi,” Oborevwori said.
