President Bola Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the Board of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), following the Senate’s confirmation of its members on December 16.

The announcement was made by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga in a statement on Thursday.

Tinubu charged the board members “to deepen and consolidate the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s power sector, in strict alignment with the letter and spirit of the Electricity Act, 2023.”

Dr. Mulisiu Olalekan Oseni has been appointed Chairman of the commission, effective December 1, 2025, with a tenure running until the completion of his 10-year term.

Oseni, who joined NERC as a commissioner in January 2017 and later served as Vice Chairman, is joined by Dr. Yusuf Ali as Vice Chairman.

Ali was first appointed as a commissioner in February 2022 and assumed his new role on December 1, 2025.

Other board members include Mr. Nathan Rogers Shatti, Mr. Dafe Akpeneye, and Mrs. Aisha Mahmud Kanti Bello, all serving second terms as commissioners.

Dr. Chidi Ike and Dr. Fouad Animashaun, an energy economist and former Executive Commissioner/CEO of the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, were also appointed as commissioners.
