The Accord Party has cleared Governor Ademola Adeleke as the sole aspirant for the Osun State governorship primary scheduled for Wednesday, December 10.
The party’s screening committee, led by Elder Ibe Thankgod, announced that Adeleke has met all necessary requirements for nomination, praising him as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant.”
Adeleke, who recently defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), joined the Accord Party over a month ago, citing the party’s mission of welfarism as aligning with his administration’s focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare.
“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on November 6, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026,” he said.
The governor expressed his commitment to continuing his administration’s delivery of good governance and democratic dividends, stating that the Accord Party is the best platform to achieve this goal.
He welcomed national and state leaders of the party to the Government House, emphasizing unity and inclusiveness in the build up to the election.
Adeleke’s defection and subsequent clearance by the Accord Party have positioned him strongly for the 2026 governorship poll.
The party’s governorship primary election is expected to confirm Adeleke as the party’s candidate.
