Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, has announced a 54-man provisional squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The list features several established internationals, including captain William Troost-Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Stanley Nwabali.
The squad is a mix of experienced players and young talent, with notable inclusions like Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, and Alex Iwobi.
Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and defender Zaidu Sanusi are also part of the team. Chelle has also included several home-based players, such as Abdulrasheed Shehu, Ebenezer Harcourt, Ekeson Okorie, Chisom Orji, and Adekunle Adeleke, in a bid to assess domestic talent.
The Super Eagles will be looking to make a strong impression in the tournament, which kicks off on December 21.
The team will begin their training camp in Egypt on December 10, where they will play warm-up matches before heading to Morocco.
The final squad of 28 will be selected in the coming days.
Nigeria is drawn in Group C, alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
