A shooting incident near the White House in Washington, D.C., on November 26, 2025, has claimed the lives of two National Guard members.

The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. ET near the intersection of 17th Street NW and I Street NW, prompting a swift law enforcement response and a temporary lockdown of the area.

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey confirmed the deaths of the two National Guard members, saying, “These brave West Virginians lost their lives in the service of their country.

“We are in ongoing contact with federal officials as the investigation continues,” he added.

“West Virginia will never forget their service or their sacrifice, and we will demand full accountability for this horrific act.”

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after the shooting and is receiving treatment for severe wounds.
