Lt. A.M. Yarima, the Nigerian Naval officer, who was embroiled in a land dispute with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike last week, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Sunday evening.

The officer was reportedly trailed by unidentified men in two unmarked, plate-less Hilux vans.

The vehicles followed him from the NIPCO Filling Station off the Line Expressway to Gado Nasco Way.

Aware of the danger, Lt. Yarima employed a “strategic maneuver” to evade the suspected assailants.

According to reports, the incident happened at about 6:30 p.m.

The matter is now under investigation and being treated with “the seriousness it deserves,” the source confirmed.

Further details were withheld to prevent compromising the inquiry.

This development follows Lt. Yarima’s recent heated confrontation with the FCT Minister over demolition activity at a disputed Gaduwa District land site. While on duty, the officer challenged the Minister’s team.

The viral video of the encounter sparked public debate, prompting the Presidency to intervene and order an immediate halt to the demolition pending review.

As of press time, the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh has yet to respond to messages sent to her phone on the incident.
