Top-flight manager Mladen Zizovic, boss of Radnicki 1923, has tragically died after suffering a fatal heart attack during a match in Serbia.
Zizovic collapsed on the touchline just 22 minutes into his side’s fixture against Mladost on Sunday evening, leaving the football community in mourning.
Despite receiving immediate medical attention and being rushed to hospital, Zizovic passed away shortly after the match had resumed.
The fixture was initially halted following his collapse, but play restarted once he had been taken to hospital.
Tragically, just 20 minutes later, confirmation came through that he had died.
Players and staff from both teams were left in tears on the pitch before the match was called off. Upsetting footage of the incident emerged on social media on Monday.
A former Bosnia international, Zizovic had only taken up the role on October 23, with the Mladost fixture being just his third game at the helm.
He had previously managed Bosnian outfit FK Borac Banja Luka in the Europa Conference League last season, reports the Express.
The Serbian FA paid tribute to Zizovic, who is survived by three children, saying: “The Football Association of Serbia has received with deep sorrow and disbelief the news of the sudden death of FK Radniki 1923 coach Mladen Zizovic, who passed away during the Mozzart Bet Super League of Serbia match between Mladost and Radnicki 1923 in Lucani.
