Liverpool ended their four-game losing streak in the Premier League with a convincing 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.

The victory marked a welcome return to form for the reigning champions, who had struggled in recent weeks.

Mohamed Salah scored the opening goal in first-half injury time, capitalizing on a defensive error by Aston Villa.

The Egyptian striker’s 275th contribution for Liverpool equalled Wayne Rooney’s record for most contributions for a single club in the Premier League.

Ryan Gravenberch scored Liverpool’s second goal in the 58th minute, with a shot that deflected off Ezri Konsa’s boot and past Emi Martinez.

The goal marked Gravenberch’s first goal for Liverpool and provided a buffer for the Reds.

Aston Villa had threatened to take the lead early on, with Morgan Rogers hitting the post with a bending drive.

However, Liverpool’s intense pressing and commitment ultimately paid off, as they dominated possession and created several chances.

Arne Slot’s side moved back up to third in the Premier League table, while Aston Villa remain in good form but suffered their first defeat in five games.

The result marked a significant turnaround for Liverpool, who had been knocked out of the League Cup by Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
