Just In: Tinubu Writes Senate, Seeks Confirmation Of New Service Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to screen and confirm the recently appointed service chiefs.

The request is contained in a letter read on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, October 28, by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

According to the letter, the nominees are: Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiendeye.

President Tinubu urged the Senate to give expeditious consideration to the appointments.

Meanwhile, Akpabio has directed that the nominees be referred to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation next week.

Persecondnews recalls that the President met with the newly appointed service chiefs behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, October 27 following their appointments on Friday, October 24.
