Senate Receives Tinubu’s Letter Seeking Confirmation of Bernard Doro as Minister

The Nigerian Senate has announced the receipt of President Bola Tinubu’s request, seeking the screening and confirmation of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a Minister.

The letter was read on the floor of the chamber on Wednesday, October 22, by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio thereafter referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole to report back as soon as practicable.

Doro’s nomination follows Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda’s emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman in July. Yilwatda previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Doro brings more than two decades of experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community development in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

He has degrees in Pharmacy and law, an MBA focusing on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.

Doro is an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with NHS frontline experience across urgent care, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospital settings.

Beyond his medical and administrative expertise, Doro has been active in youth mentorship and social impact initiatives in the diaspora and local communities.
