The Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja has announced the redeployment of Force spokesman Deputy Commissioner Olumuyiwa Adejobi to the Delta State Command effective immediately.

He was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner and posted to Delta command in charge of Operations.

Persecondnews reports that the police high command defended the redeployment as part of routine administrative procedures designed to strengthen operational leadership across the country, following the Police Service Commission’s approval of his elevation.

It said Adejobi’s redeployment to Delta State is considered a strategic posting, given the state’s operational sensitivity and security challenges.

Delta State has witnessed complex security threats, including armed robbery, kidnapping, oil theft, and communal disputes.

As DCP Operations, Adejobi will coordinate tactical deployments, supervise field operations, and lead anti-crime strategies across the state.

His portfolio also includes tackling violent crimes, curbing communal clashes, managing crisis response, and enhancing police-community relations.

Senior police sources have dismissed reports claiming Adejobi was controversially removed from his spokesperson role, clarifying that his elevation is neither punitive nor political.

“The deployment of officers is a normal administrative procedure in the Nigeria Police Force. DCP Adejobi’s record of professionalism, commitment, and service excellence made him a natural fit for this crucial operational responsibility,” a senior officer said.

“Adejobi’s wealth of experience in public communication, operational management, and community policing makes him well-suited for this role.”
