Maresca Confirms Adarabioyo’s Return to Chelsea’s Starting Lineup Against West Ham

Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Tosin Adarabioyo will return to the team for their Premier League clash against West Ham on Friday.

Adarabioyo missed the Blues’ opening game of the season against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge and is set to start at the London Stadium.

Maresca expressed surprise that Adarabioyo’s availability wasn’t widely known, saying, “I’m a little bit surprised because last week when he wasn’t available, the day before it was everywhere [in the media] that he wasn’t available. Now I don’t know why you don’t know he is available! But yes, he is available.”

Maresca also provided an update on the team’s injury list, confirming that Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile will miss the encounter.

However, Wes Fofana is set to get some minutes after being on the bench against Palace.

Maresca said, “Romeo is still out [and won’t play in this game]. Benoit is still out. Wes is back, as I said, and that’s all.”

The Chelsea gaffer also ruled out signing a replacement for Levi Colwill, opting for internal solutions instead.

Regarding Fofana’s recent Instagram activity, Maresca revealed that the player is happy at the club despite deleting everything related to Chelsea on his Instagram account.

“Wes is happy. We are happy. There is nothing to add on that. Abuse, as you said, is never good. Not good for Wes, or any player, any human being in the world but it is something we can’t control.”

Maresca added that he speaks with Fofana daily and the player is very happy, joining all the sessions with the team.

Maresca is expecting a tough game against West Ham, who lost to Sunderland in their first game of the season.

“Tough game. All the Premier League games are difficult. If you remember the game at home last season was a different game for us. They defended very well – I expect exactly the same.”
