Nigerian international Ademola Lookman is likely to remain at Atalanta for the 2025/26 campaign after Inter Milan officially withdrew from transfer negotiations.

Atalanta’s valuation of €50 million has been a major sticking point, with Inter Milan’s €45 million bid being rejected.

Lookman’s representatives have been informed of Inter’s decision, leaving his future uncertain.

The Italian club is unwilling to sell Lookman below their valuation, despite his expressed desire to leave.

With two weeks left in the transfer window, it seems increasingly likely that Lookman will stay at Atalanta unless a club meets their valuation.

Other clubs, including Atlético Madrid, have shown interest, but no formal talks are currently underway.

The Super Eagles coaching crew is eager for clarity on Lookman’s future, especially with crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers approaching.

Nigeria sits fourth in Group C with seven points and needs maximum returns from their final four matches to keep qualification hopes alive.

Lookman’s participation in the qualifiers could be crucial to the team’s success.

Inter Milan has turned its attention to alternative targets, including Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.

The Nerazzurri had agreed on personal terms with Lookman earlier this summer but were unable to reach an agreement with Atalanta on the transfer fee.

With the transfer window closing soon, Inter Milan will need to act quickly to secure a new signing.

Atalanta’s Serie A opener against Pisa is scheduled for August 24, and Lookman is expected to feature for new head coach Ivan Jurić.

Atalanta has several upcoming fixtures, including matches against Parma Calcio on August 30 and Torino FC on September 21.
