Ibadan North Federal Seat By-Election: PDP Triumphant, Takes Seat from APC

Mr. Folajinmi Oyekunle of the People’s Democratic Party has been declared the winner of Saturday’s Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election, replacing the late lawmaker, Musiliu Akinremi of APC popularly known as Jagaban.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Abiodun Oluwadare of the University of Ibadan, made the announcement at the end of the collation exercise held at Ikolaba High School, Ibadan.

Oyekunle polled 18,404 to beat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Adewale Olatunji, popularly known as Murphy, by a wide margin of 8,312 votes.

Femi Akin-Alamu of the African Democratic Congress recorded 88 votes, while Olabisi Olajumoke of the All Progressives Grand Alliance polled 40 votes.

“This is the declaration. I, Professor Abiodun Oluwadare, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the 2025 Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election, held on the 16th day of August, 2024.

“That Folajinmi Oyekunle of the Peoples Democratic Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner of the election,” he announced.
