Nigerian football has witnessed a major development with the acquisition of Rancher Bees FC, a historic Kaduna-based club, by Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar and Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives.
The duo has officially secured ownership rights of the team, which is set to compete in the Nigeria National League (NNL) in the upcoming season.
Sadiq Umar, in a statement on Tuesday expressed his enthusiasm about reviving the club’s glorious past, saying, “I and my partner Hon. Bello want to return the club to its old glory days.
“Growing up, i watched Rancher Bees, a team that produced numerous talented players, and i am proud to be part of its new ownership. The club has a rich legacy in Kaduna football, having produced several former internationals.
“We have big plans for Rancher Bees FC. We aim to secure promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). ”
Umar added:”Our target is to secure promotion to the NPFL. I’m elated by the feedback from Rancher Bees supporters and the people of Kaduna. We will bring back the old memories of the club and return the fans to the stadium.”
Persecondnews reports that the club will field both an academy team and a professional side for the NNL campaign.
