Tragedy struck as Akawa Boluwatife Samuel, a 20-year-old fresh graduate of Ogun State’s Babcock University’s Information Technology programme, was found “unresponsive” in his hostel room by roommates.
This tragic incident occurred just days after completing his final clearance in preparation for graduation, Persecondnews gathered.
Boluwatife had reportedly complained of feeling cold and experiencing breathing difficulties on July 27, but was in good spirits the previous night, playing games on his laptop until around 11 p.m. before being found lifeless the next morning.
His roommates rushed him to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan in Ikenne local government area of the state where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
“He was fine the previous night. He played games on his laptop till around 11pm,” a colleague Adili said. “By morning, we noticed he wasn’t moving.”
Following the discovery of the body, police took photographs and a statement was obtained from the deceased’s elder brother, Akawa Toluwanimi John, who was visibly distraught.
The police said they have launched an investigation into the cause of death, with his body preserved at the university morgue for autopsy.
The news of the student’s death has shocked the university community, with many struggling to process the sudden loss.
