Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has slammed the anti-Tinubu coalition which on Wednesday took over the structure of the African Democratic Congress(ADC), describing them as a gang of failed and expired politicians.
Wike slammed the coalition leaders, saying they had nothing to offer, and accused Sen. David Mark of joining the ADC after failing to lead the PDP.
The minister said this during a media briefing on Thursday in Abuja, monitored by Persecondnews.
He said: “I heard David Mark say they want to rescue Nigeria. That Nigerians are not happy. But the man was Senate President for 8 years, and Nigerians were happy?
“There was no single project in Otukpo. Not one. He was flying with a helicopter to Otukpo. Nigerians were not angry then, but they are angry now?”
The Minister said Mark, as PDP leader in his area, had failed to win elections, but his daughter, who ran on the All Progressives Congress (APC), is now a member of the House of Representatives.
He said: “Amaechi was minister. He took Chinese loans and made Nigeria so indebted to China. So, Nigerians were happy then?. When you were in power, Nigerians were happy, but the moment you are no longer in power, Nigerians are no longer happy.
“I saw Sirika. What happened to Air Nigeria? Nigerians were happy then?. When they went to APC in 2013 and took over power, Nigerians were happy, but no longer happy today?
“Was it under Tinubu’s government that banditry came? What is he doing? To solve the problems he met. I read what Malami wrote. It was so shameful. He was AGF. What did he do? What was his contribution to resolving the security challenges?
“Tambuwal was Speaker for four years. What did he do to make Nigerians not be angry? He was governor for eight years. What did he do? What kind of politics are we playing?” he queried.
Wike added that Bolaji Abdullahi, the former Sports Minister, had defected to the ADC for falling out with his mentor, Sen. Bukola Saraki.
He said the PDP, if it put its house in order, was the only party currently capable of challenging Tinubu.
Persecondnews reports that the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movements in Nigeria on Wednesday adopted ADC as its platform for the 2027 general elections.
Among the prominent politicians who have joined the party are Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria; Mr. Peter Obi; former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi; former Governor of Rivers State and Mr. Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, among others.
