The Nigerian women’s beach volleyball team has made history by qualifying for the 2025 World Championship in Adelaide, Australia.

Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa secured the ticket after defeating Egypt 2-1 (21-14, 20-22, 15-9) to finish in third place at the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) continental championship in Morocco.

The team’s head coach, Kayode Ajilore, commended his players for their determination and hard work, saying, “They played to every instruction given to them. The girls were determined to represent the country in Australia for the world championship.”

Ajilore also acknowledged the efforts of Musa Nimrod, President CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission, for creating a platform for the players to excel.

The 2025 World Beach Volleyball Championship will be held in Adelaide, Australia, from November 14 to November 23.

According to Ajilore, the team will start preparing for the championships immediately, with the goal of achieving a good result.

“We will start preparations for the world championship immediately so that we can also have a good result at the end of the tournament,” he said.

The CAVB continental championship in Morocco saw Morocco win the gold medal in the women’s event, while Mozambique took silver.

In the men’s categories, Moroccan teams dominated, winning both gold and silver medals, while Mozambique secured bronze.
