771

Some yet-to-be apprehended gunmen invaded Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on Saturday, abducting a state high court judge, Justice E.G. Umokoro.

He was reportedly kidnapped at about 7:05 pm in front of a popular eatery in the Ekeki area along Chief Melford Okilo Expressway.

The incident has heightened fears in the state, which has been experiencing violent clashes between cult groups and armed robberies.

SP Musa Mohammed, Bayelsa Police Command’s spokesman, has yet to respond to the development in spite of several calls and messages to his phone.
