A medical evaluation, prompted by worsening urinary symptoms, revealed that former U.S. President Joe Biden is suffering from aggressive prostate cancer with bone metastases.
This diagnosis was confirmed in a statement from his personal office on Sunday.
According to CNN, physicians discovered a prostate nodule, and subsequent tests confirmed the presence of cancer with a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5)—one of the highest indicators of cancer severity.
“This represents a more aggressive form of the disease,” the statement read, adding that the cancer has already spread to the bones.
However, the report offered a degree of optimism, noting that “the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management.”
Biden and his family are currently consulting with his medical team to determine the most appropriate course of treatment.
