A logistics team comprised of Lagos State officials traveling on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway to the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, were involved in a road accident on Friday.

Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

The five officials involved are currently receiving medical care at a hospital.

Speaking exclusively with a Persecondnews correspondent in Abeokuta, Olowo Adewale, the General Captain of the Lagos State athletes, described the incident as minor and expressed the team’s relief that no one sustained serious injuries.

“It’s not something serious, we are grateful to God that the few members of our team who were affected are in stable condition, they’re in the hospital and receiving medical care,” he said.

Adewale disclosed that about five to six team members are currently hospitalized, but are in stable condition.

Despite this setback, the General Captain expressed confidence in the team’s abilities, saying, “Lagos state is known to come to the festival with their A Game, we have the best athletes in this championship, and when the game starts, you will see it for yourself.”

Lagos State arrived at the camp at about 3:05pm with over 750 athletes, who are expected to compete in various events at the festival.
