After a two-week trip abroad, the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, arrived back in the state.
Governor Fubara’s plane landed at the international terminal of Port Harcourt Airport in Omagwa at 7:00pm on Friday.
A widely circulated video captured the governor being greeted by several aides upon his arrival at the airport.
The suspended Governor was then escorted to a waiting SUV, which promptly departed.
During his vacation, Fubara was said to have held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu in London when he was outside the country.
But before he travelled, Fubara was said to have met with his estranged predecessor and his estranged godfather, Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister.
The peace meeting between Wike and Fubara was brokered by two governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former governor from the Southwest.
Tinubu had in March suspended Fubara, the Deputy Gov. Prof. Ngozi Odu and the legislative arm of government following the declaration of state of emergency over political impasse between the governor and the lawmakers who had threatened him with impeachment.
