The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has restated the importance of enhanced collaboration among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to boost Nigeria’s business environment.

This push for inter-agency synergy aims to remove bureaucratic hurdles, improve transparency and efficiency in public service delivery, and foster a more favorable climate for businesses to thrive.

PEBEC’s Executive Order 001 promotes efficiency and transparency in MDAs’ interactions with the public.

The call came at the end of a retreat organized for heads of MDAs in Abuja, attended by 69 agency heads, key stakeholders, members of the diplomatic corps, and business environment collaborators.

Vice President Kashim Shettima harped on interagency collaboration, innovation, and progress in enhancing government service delivery, urging MDAs to prioritize joint planning, data sharing, and common Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) where their work intersects.

He also noted the need to simplify processes, eliminate duplication, and leverage technology to improve transparency and turnaround times.

PEBEC’s Director General, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, re-echoed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation’s (SGF) words, calling the retreat a strategic moment for reflection, alignment, and renewed commitment to working better together.

Audu reaffirmed PEBEC’s readiness to work with heads of agencies to improve their service level delivery, aligning with the council’s goal of creating a more enabling business environment.

In his remarks, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, urged heads of MDAs to drive the deepening of institutional reforms such as the Business Facilitation Act (BFA).

The retreat featured special keynotes and capacity-building sessions by the Lagos Business School, with representatives from the British High Commission and World Bank in attendance.
