Nigerian street-hop sensation, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arrested by operatives of the Kwara State Police Command following a petition filed by veteran Fuji icon, Saheed Osupa.

The arrest, which took place on Sunday, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, was carried out in connection with serious allegations including defamation, threats to life, and incitement.

The conflict between the two entertainers reportedly escalated after Portable launched verbal attacks on Saheed Osupa via social media.

This followed Osupa’s move to have a music streaming platform remove one of Portable’s songs from its catalogue, citing unauthorized usage of his intellectual property.

In a video that surfaced online shortly after the incident, Portable was seen being taken into custody by officers, visibly agitated, as bystanders looked on.

The arrest reportedly occurred at about 7:25 p.m., after police secured a warrant from a Magistrate’s Court in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said Portable was transported to Ilorin immediately after his arrest.

She also confirmed that his statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties.

“The petition was supported with evidence strong enough for us to act swiftly,” Ejire-Adeyemi noted.

“The suspect remains in custody as we finalize arrangements to charge him to court.”

Saheed Osupa, who has maintained a dignified silence in public, filed the petition citing criminal defamation, character assassination, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

The move came after Portable’s scathing remarks in a video, where he referred to the Fuji legend as “big for nothing” and accused him of sabotaging younger artistes.

Persecondnews reports that Portable’s career continues to be marred by controversy, with his latest antics sparking widespread attention.

Known for his outspoken personality and frequent run-ins with the law, Portable has become a magnet for media scrutiny.
